Anthony Pereira-Bureta

Anthony has completed a Bachelor of Business at AUT, majoring in Accounting.

Since his graduation he had been working full-time in the Private Business team at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has since left this role to focus on his own business ventures.

He enjoys playing sports and spending quality time with family and friends. Anthony understands the importance of hard-work and takes pride in being organised.

In the near future, he hopes to give back to Dilworth school, a place that has played a key role in getting him to where he is today.

He worked within the SEF programme acting as a Buddy for two AUT students, Tamale Taufa and Zach Mckenzie.

Indivar Kumar

Indivar is an ambitious young student, who has completed his BCom/BA at the University of Auckland, majoring in Marketing, Management, Sociology and Criminology.

He believes with the rapid changes in technology and the work force, there will be many roles in the future in which these fields of study are helpful. 

Indivar Is extremely passionate about everything he partakes in and excels at many levels within the performing arts, with his involvement in many school shows leading to his role in the 2018 live-production revival of 'Mamma Mia' to be performed at the Bruce Mason Centre.

He also achieved distinction in all of his musical theatre exams including his diploma in Musical Theatre from the Trinity College of London (“ATCL”).

Indivar started working in August 2021 at Daylight Creative as a Content Coordinator.

Indivar worked within the SEF programme as a Buddy for Kellen Dudley-Rode and Joshua Rolston who are both studying at the University of Auckland.

Joel Ibbs
Deputy Head Boy 2017

In November of 2020, Joel completed his Bachelor of Commerce in Business Analytics and Marketing at the University of Auckland.

He has continued with the work he has been doing at Surf Life Saving Northern Region as the Training Supervisor, where he manages the member development department for the 17 Northern Region clubs stretching from Raglan in Waikato to Ahipara in Northland.

He is proud to be utilizing a number of both soft and hard skills that he has gained in his degree to analyse the health and sustainability of lifesaving clubs and, through data driven decision making, support those most in need to continue offering the critical service of saving lives on our beaches. He looks forward to staying with Surf Life Saving Northern Region for some time before likely pursuing employment in his field of Business Analytics.

Outside of work Joel is involved in many different sports and past times, several based around the water but also activities such as football and hiking.

Luca Macioce

Luca completed his Bachelor of Business Degree at AUT in 2020. He majored in Marketing, Advertising, and Sales. He worked at FCB, one of the country’s most established advertising agencies, as an Ad-Ops Executive. This was a place he had previously been an intern at through the help of SEF. He is currently picking up freelance content creation and digital marketing work.

He is passionate about all formats of photography, film photography in particular, using a vintage camera. Most recently he released his first photography book titled "The Bridge." He would be delighted if his future career could incorporate both marketing and photography.

He is also a keen footballer.

Luca was awarded a scholarship from AUT which recognised his academic achievements and also his success as an “all-rounder”.

Matthew Macnaughtan

University of Auckland

Matthew completed his MSc in early 2023 and he is now embarking on his PhD.

He completed his BSc in 2020, majoring in Mathematics and Physics. In 2021 he obtained first class honours in physics.  He is very bright and has chosen to study science because of his love for the field, and his goal of applying his scientific knowledge to his eventual career.

Matthew is a keen musician, playing the bagpipes recreationally as well as competitively, both as a solo player and as a band player in the grade 1 pipe band, the Auckland and District pipe band.

He does academic tutoring as well as bagpipe tutoring for extra income to help fund his studies.

Matthew has also tutored physics, maths and classics at Dilworth School and enjoys giving back to his old school.

Matthew worked within the SEF programme as a Buddy for Joji Joseph who is studying BSc at the University of Auckland.

Oscar Read

Oscar graduated in May 2024, he studied law and arts majoring in Philosophy, and Politics and International Relations. He chose to study law because he loves negotiating and debating. Oscar has been working at MinterEllisonRuddWatts in the Construction Litigation Team since 2022.

Oscar is very personable, bright and an all-rounder. His talents have been recognised in the number of awards he received when he left Dilworth. He also received his diploma in Performing Speech and Drama from the Trinity College of London (“ATCL”).

Oscar is involved with various university clubs; he has competed both domestically and internationally with the University of Auckland Case Programme. Additionally, he has competed in a number of legal competitions: in mooting, negotiation and witness examination. In 2022 Oscar will be competing in the International Criminal Court Moot.

While at university Oscar has worked numerous jobs gaining experience at Bell Gully and Stakeholder Strategies through SEF, he has clerked for Jackson Russell and Kiely Thompson Caisley and interned in the management consulting team at PwC over the summer for the years 2020-2022.

Oscar has been accepted on an exchange programme (Sem 1 2023) to the University of Toronto, Canada. He will study law alongside the post-graduate students and have the opportunity to access some world-renowned professors and unique papers which are not available in New Zealand.

Oscar worked within the SEF programme acting as a Buddy for Quinn Gray who is also studying at the University of Auckland.

Thomas Swinburn
Deputy Head Boy 2016

Thomas Swinburn is a high achieving student who has had many interesting life experiences for a man of his age.

In 2016, he was selected by Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga, MP for Maungakiekie, to represent him in the Youth Parliament which involved volunteering in a community project and sitting on a parliamentary select committee.

Thomas was also one of 10 Young Ambassadors selected from around NZ to travel to France and Belgium to represent NZ at centennial commemorations for WW1. Thomas spent part of Year 11 living and studying in France and is now fluent in French.

When Thomas left school he took a gap year and was a Sports Tutor at Whitgift School in London. He made the most of this time in the UK and travelled to 42 countries across five continents! He learnt a lot about himself, broadened his skills and experiences, and made lifelong friends.

He also received a significant award at his final Dilworth prize-giving for being optimistic, loyal, outgoing and hardworking – these traits sum up this talented young man.

In 2022, Thomas will be in his fifth year of medical studies at the University of Auckland, based at Auckland City Hospital.

He worked within the SEF programme acting as a Buddy in 2021 for Mudiwa Makaza and in past years Marvin Tao and Sam Michie.

Tommy Hou
Proxime Accessit 2017

Tommy completed his BE (Hons) at the University of Auckland in 2021. He is currently working in his field of electrical engineering at eCubed entering into building services.

He plays the piano and enjoys sketching and painting in his spare time. He decided to study engineering because he has always enjoyed solving real world problems.

Tommy is exceptionally bright and was top of his class in chemistry and biology in his final year at Dilworth. He was also awarded the Proxime Accessit.

Tommy worked within the SEF programme acting as a Buddy for Braiden Dyer who is studying a Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Auckland.
